Another APC senator joins Shehu Sani to oppose indirect primaries

 - Senator Ajayi Boroffice has berated the APC chapter in his state for choosing indirect primaries - Boroffice said he was not aware of the meeting where the decision by the Ondo APC was taken - He said whatever decision they take is not effective and is at best, a proposal Ajayi Boroffice, the senator representing Ondo North senatorial district, has said he is against the indirect primaries adopted by the Ondo state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in selecting its candidate for the 2019 general elections. Boroffice said he was not aware nor invited to the meeting held in Akure on Wednesday, September 5, where the decision by the Ondo APC was taken, Premium Times reports. A statement signed by Boroffice's press secretary, Kayode Fakuyi, said the decision to adopt indirect primaries is not the general decision of the party. The statement read: “The distinguished senator Ajayi Boroffice is not aware of the purported meeting of the All Progressives Congress that held in Akure on Wednesday. He was not invited. “The only decision that can be said to be the position of the party is the decision that emanated from wide consultations and engagements with party stakeholders and aspirants, like the National leadership of APC directed. “Whatever decision they take is not effective. At best, it is a proposal. It is subject to approval or rejection by the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC. As at today, the APC has adopted direct primaries for all elections in Ondo state. If primary election is conducted in Ondo state today, it will be by direct primary." Speaking to newsmen after the state executive meeting of the party, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, representing Ondo central senatorial district of the state, said the option was endorsed to forestall difficulties and crises, come 2019 elections. Recall that 9ja.com also reported that National Assembly member, Senator Shehu Sani, urged the leadership of APC to jettison indirect primary elections, describing it as “breeding ground for corruption in the country’s democracy”. He stated this after submitting a petition to the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, in Abuja on Tuesday, September 4. Team UNILORIN wins 2018 NiMSA Games

The Ilorin University Medical Students Association (ILUMSA) has emerged the overall winner of the 17th Nigerian Medical Association (NiMSA) Games. According to the university’s Weekly Bulletin, issued on Monday, the Team also won the football final, defeating the University of Benin Medical Students Association by a lone goal. The Director of NiMSA Standing Committee, Mr Oluseyi Animashaun, said that ILUMSA garnered 41 medals comprising 16 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze.
