1 Governor Ambode of Lagos State yesterday reportedly held an emergency closed-door meeting with his commissioners and aides over his political future in the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the commencement of party primaries.
Reports said the governor has been in talks with key stakeholders of his cabinet following reports of a decision by the “godfather” of Lagos politics and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to withdraw support for his second term bid.2 . President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that his administration will not support illegal migration.
Speaking during a joint press conference with the visiting German Chancellor, Angela Merkel at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Buhari stated that Nigerians involved in illegal migration were doing so at their own risk.
3. Troops of 2 Division Task Force Battalion conducting Counter Insurgency Operations in North Eastern Nigeria, have successfully routed Boko Haram insurgents in an encounter that ensued yesterday evening at Zari village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno state.
The insurgents were on rampage to loot the community and extort money from villagers but met with a fierce resistance by the Land troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, who were closely supported from the air by troops of the Air Task Force.
4. The Nigerian community in South Africa has again cried out over the killing of two Nigerians in the country.
The latest Nigerian to have lost their lives in the crime-prone nation were identified as Mr. Okechukwu Chukwumezeriri and Mr. Olushola Ayanleye, according to President of the Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA), Mr Adetola Olubajo.
5. Suspected herdsmen operating within Obomkpa community, Aniocha North local government area of Delta State have allegedly killed a medical doctor at the Federal Medical Center (FMC, Asaba) and abducted two of his friends who were said to be travelling with him on Thursday evening.
It was gathered that the victims were traveling along the Obomkpa community road in the doctor’s vehicle when they ran into the suspected herdsmen armed with AK 47 rifles, and in their attempt to escape, the herdsmen swooped on them, and shot the doctor who was said to have died on the spot while others escaped with bullet wounds.
6 No fewer than three local government chairmen of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Zamfara state, Nigeria, who were on holy pilgrimage, have lost their lives in a fatal road accident in the early hours of Friday.
National President of Muslim Media Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (MMPAN), Alhaji Abdulrahman Balogun, who made this disclosure, said that the trio died during the accident while on their way from Makkah to Madina.
7. Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will be free and fair to all.
Jonathan, who spoke while receiving former Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, assured those aspiring for elective positions in PDP ahead of 2019 election of a level-playing ground in the primaries.
8. Lille have confirmed that they have reached a mutual termination agreement with former Nigeria goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said yesterday that he had nothing to do with the political ambition of one of his aides, Iliya Habila, who had declared his intention to seek a ticket to the Bauchi Sate House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dogara’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, has now made it clear that the Speaker had no input or influenced Habila’s political aspiration.
10. Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has declared that the decamping to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and being part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s camp would not save former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio and others from probe.
Sagay said those whose cases had already been taken to court would continue to face prosecution

Team UNILORIN wins 2018 NiMSA Games

The Ilorin University Medical Students Association (ILUMSA) has emerged the overall winner of the 17th Nigerian Medical Association (NiMSA) Games. According to the university’s Weekly Bulletin, issued on Monday, the Team also won the football final, defeating the University of Benin Medical Students Association by a lone goal. The Director of NiMSA Standing Committee, Mr Oluseyi Animashaun, said that ILUMSA garnered 41 medals comprising 16 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze.
